Senators Speak up to the FDA… and Susan Thixton, TruthAboutPetFood.com, Responds...

Two senators known to be pet food consumer advocates speak up on our behalf again… and Susan Thixton responds to them with appreciation, enlightenment, and some requests.

On TruthAboutPetFood.com, Susan shares the actual letter Senators Durbin and Feinstein had written to the FDA.

She urges all of us to contact our local   representatives in Congress and ask them to join the senators' investigation of pet food safety… and recommends the following:

Veterinary Angel Honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Palmyra
Have you ever heard of aVeterinary Angel?  That term always comes to mind when I think about Dr. Lisa Aumiller of HousePaws Mobile Veterinary Service in Mt. Laurel, NJ.

Over 150 people participated in a community service project sponsored by HousePaws Mobile Veterinary Service, Monday, January 19, 2015, at the Palmyra Community Center.  Brownies, Girl Scouts, people of all ages from small children to seniors, came out to make healthy treats and environmentally-friendly toys in support of homeless dogs, cats, bunnies, and pocket pets on behalf of the Friends of Burlington County Animal Shelter (FOBCAS) and RescueMeYorkie.

Decorating the Tree Safely with Pets

Sadly, all three of these furry babies in the photos are Angels… And, realizing that, I had to post this in their memory, despite the holiday being over!!!

Each is a twinkling bright star in the sky.

Below is a blog post I had written for PetSitUSA.com last year:

Chapman went home for the holidays and will learn about the hazards! He has a Mommy, Daddy, even a Christmas Tree!!!
As the holidays approach, and the decorating begins… please remember to do so responsibly, and may your holiday be joyful and safe!

'Tis the Night Before Christmas…

‘Tis the night before Christmas, and all of my wonderful furry babies are now tucked into bed…

After receiving many hugs, kisses, massages, and playtime, while they wore Santa hats on their heads.

I am so very fortunate to be their pet sitter, and provide them with love, enrichment, and care…
Whether I’m feeding, snuggling, trimming nails, or administering medications, when their families aren’t there.
Wishing the happiest, safest, and healthiest of holidays to friends, colleagues, and clients of I’ve Got the ‘Scoop’!

Prevent Pet Suffocation

Hello, Furry Fanatic Friends!

Preventing Pet Suffocation… you've heard me talk about it, seen the extremely sad posts I've shared of many dogs whom have succumb to it, and I may have even hidden your snack bags securely away from your beloved pets, if you are one of my clients, whom I endearingly refer to as my pet parents.

We are mindful of toxic foods and unhealthy ingredients to avoid in our pet's food, conscientious about harmful chemicals, household products, and pesticides, the dangers human medications pose to our pets, even which flowers are poisonous and should not be grown in our gardens or placed on our windowsills.

Your Pet is Microchipped…

Hello, Furry Fanatic Friends!

Thinking you'll be contacted if they are found and be reunited with you???  Don't be so sure…unless your information is up to date!!!  This also applies to your pet's ID tags!!!
Some of my furry friends have been new to the area... and during my consultation with a family, one of the questions I ask is if their furry baby is microchipped.  I then proceed to obtain the company through which the chip is registered and document the actual chip number.

Happy Thanksgiving… 2014!!!
